Oh great, my Popstrology sign is a “Double Beatle.” I’m gonna have to say something to PatriotMom about this. I loathe the Beatles…..
Oh lookie at that…. I’m a self-loathing Double Beatle, too! Heh, heh.
Please no one buy this book. After all, he’s going to appear on NPR. Yuck.
Mainstream Media’s Liberal Bias….Any Doubt Left
I’d like to celebrate the eve of Dan Rather’s departure with an observation about how the CBS Radio News led off its 7:00PM Eastern “World News Roundup” report.
There are counter demonstrations supported by terrorist group Hezbollah, major news outlets in “Old Europe” are suggesting that perhaps “Bush Was Right” and democracy is definitely on the move as a serious countermeasure to terrorism in the Middle East.
In this backdrop, President Bush delivered a major speech updating the nation (uh, that would be OUR nation) on the War on Terror. But CBS Radio News felt it ranked third in priority order on their newscast tonight. Number two was the Michael Jackson trial.
So of course, what is the most pressing story that CBS Radio News could lead off their major radio newscast tonight?
President Bill Clinton suffering from rare, non-lifethreatening complication. In fact….
“Really, this is a quality of life issue,” said Dr. Michael Banbury, a heart surgeon at the famed Cleveland Clinic. Banbury told CBS News anchor Dan Rather the procedure is designed to relieve discomfort
“It’s not all that serious. First of all, this is not operation on his heart. His heart has already been taken care of. This is just to remove the peel of scar tissue that has trapped his left lung,” said Banbury.
Well, great…. CBS leads with a “quality of life issue” about a former, impeached President. When Clinton switches from Viagra to Cialis… another “lifestyle issue”… will that too lead CBS News?
Could there be any doubt left that America has been brainwashed for decades by the power of the MSM? Good riddance, Dan. Courage.
Wild Lesbians Run Amok
Nope, not on the next Jerry Springer Show, but rather on the campus of your average man-hating, America-hating liberal feminist college. (Thanks to GP Correspondent Keith for the story!)
Wellesley Girls Gone Wild – BostonHerald.com
“While the party was not out of control, some people’s drinking was out of control,” said Hill. All the students are expected to recover and will appear before the college’s alcohol hearing board.
“It’s just about doing what you feel like doing, but because people party beforehand, it gets a little risque,” said a Wellesley senior who attended the party, but refused to give her name.
Isn’t this a great example for the subculture to be showcasing just when all the lesbians in the world claim they want to settle down and officially marry as part of the mainstream world?
Our Call To Kill Public Broadcasting Heard “Down Under”
I noticed that our gay conservative compatriot in Australia, Dreadnought, has taken up the cause to rid the world of taxpayer funded liberal-think.
I told all of you that Australia was more conservative than the USA… but noooo one believes me. *grin*
PS – Dreadnought has better eye candy on his site than we do here. C’est la vie.
Spreading the Love….
Yesterday and today, I have noticed a lot of referrals coming to GayPatriot from AnotherGayRepublican. So I wanted to show the love and throw some thanks his way!
I don’t see many referrals coming from Andrew Sullivan… oh that’s right, he’s not blogging anymore, is he? Heh, heh.
More Gay Patriots
Despite the title of this post, the men pictured there are not your humble bloggers.
2005 Log Cabin Convention
I wanted to announce that GayPatriot and GayPatriotWest will both be attending the 2005 Log Cabin Republicans Convention in New Orleans from March 31-April 3.
In the interest of full disclosure, we both paid the $325 registration fee out of our own pockets. We will both be reporting on our impressions of the meeting and I understand from folks at Log Cabin that there will be high speed internet access… so liveblogging may occur!
Monday Morning Potpourri
Nothing is hitting my nerve this morning so I just thought I’d write a bunch of small thoughts this morning….
PUBLIC BROADCASTING PONZI SCHEME
First, it is getting very scary how GPW and I seem to channel each other. Throughout the course of last week, after a conversation I had with PatriotPartner, I had started to do some research into how much taxpayer dollars are used to prop up the Public Broadcasting Service and National Public Radio. And lo and behold, GPW did this posting over the weekend. Scary!
I’ll go even further. I want NO taxpayer money used for ANY public financing of television OR radio. NPR is nothing more than an outlet for liberal-only opinions using MY tax money. There is no reason for this dinosaur of the “Big Three Network” days. We have XM Satellite and SIRIUS Satellite radio, and of course we have “Air America.” If liberals want an outlet for their point of view, then they need to get their rich Hollywood friends to finance such an outlet in the private sector.
My guess is that they are too afraid to play in the marketplace, so instead they want to continue this extortion of the American public to subsidize their outdated opinions.

JOB-RELATED STORY
I tend to be the one who cracks dry, sarcastic jokes at meetings and conference calls. This morning we were discussing the fact that, despite all odds and pundit predictions, private insurance plans are actually now rushing to participate in the new Medicare drug benefit which goes into effect in January 2006. My response: “Well, of course they are stepping up to the plate… they saw the Iraqis voting. After all, isn’t that the answer for everything good these days?”
Heh, heh.
With possible new strain of HIV, time to read Rotello’s book
Just last night, I pulled my copy of Gabriel Rotello‘s “SEXUAL ECOLOGY: AIDS AND THE DESTINY OF GAY MEN” off my shelf. I had thought to review my underlinings, margin and back-page notes as I prepared a followup to my piece wondering why knowing what we know some gay men continue to have unsafe sex.
This morning, I noted this article from the “WASHINGTON BLADE,” “HIV strain prompts prevention rethinking” on the Outlet Wire on the left column of this page. Writer Dyana Bagby devotes nearly one-third of the piece to comments from Rotello. Rotello echoes something that HRC’s Winnie Stachelberg noted in a recent release — and which caught the attention of Christian Granthan and myself: “we see these wonderful ads of successful beautiful, healthy [HIV positive] people taking drugs and living wonderful lives.”

Federal funding of television — a preposterous relic
Yesterday, while reading one of my one of my favorite blogs, I chanced upon this headline “No More Need for PBS” (Scroll down as no direct link is operable). Dirty Harry had linked a piece by George Will where that august columnist came to the same conclusion I had five week previously.
Deciding that, “We have no more need for PBS,” Will considers the televised visit of an animated rabbit to the Green Mountain State:
The recent spat about Buster, PBS’ cartoon rabbit, visiting two lesbian parents quickly became a second spat about the Education Department’s threat to stop financing Buster. But a third spat should have been about why the Education Department (a fourth spat: Is that department necessary?) is paying for any of Buster’s adventures. Is there a desperate shortage of television cartoons?
Last month I wondered why the Education Department was funding Buster’s adventures. I agree with Will: “In today’s 500-channel environment, public television is a preposterous relic.” To find out why, read the whole thing!
GP Interview with Patrick Guerriero, Part Three
First, I apologize for the delay in rolling out the parts of my Feb. 4th interview with Log Cabin Republican chief Patrick Guerriero. I’ve been quite busy in my ‘real job’ the past few weeks. So as a reminder, here are the links to the first two parts of the interview.
Part One
Part Two
And now, Part Three….

Liberals & gays — Ann Coulter’s view
More often than not conservative pundit Ann Coulter is a little too polemical for my tastes, but her column yesterday in FrontPage Magazine made me smile:
So now liberals are lashing out at the gays. Two weeks ago, the New York Times turned over half of its op-ed page to outing gays with some connection to Republicans. There is no principled or intellectual basis for these outings. Conservatives don’t want gays to die; we just don’t want to transform the Pentagon into the Office of Gay Studies.
By contrast, liberals say: “We love gay people! Gay people are awesome! Being gay is awesome! Gay marriage is awesome! Gay cartoon characters are awesome! And if you don’t agree with us, we’ll punish you by telling everyone that you’re gay!”
Hat tip: Powerline and Christian Grantham who has a different take on Coulter’s piece. Read her column and his criticism.
“GAY REPUBLICANS” — the documentary
Wednesday night, I trekked up to Hollywood’s Egyptian Theater for an Outfest-sponsored screening of the documentary, “GAY REPUBLICANS.” Had I not had a date, I might have stayed longer to engage the film’s very friendly director Wash Westmoreland.
Let me just say that while the documentary doesn’t present a complete picture of the GOP — or its attitude toward gays, it is, on the whole, a decent — and thoroughly engaging — movie. I recommend it (though with some reservation).

Privacy, hypocrisy and the blogosphere
Before I had even read this blog, my current blog-league was already writing about privacy. In his “Opening Salvo (the very first post on this blog), he wrote that he was motivated to enter the blogosphere, in part, “to stop the anti-gay, invasion of privacy campaign against gay Americans.” He expanded upon this in his subsequent post, Mission Statement:
The act of invading someone’s privacy and workplace in order to divulge salacious details of their personal lives reeks of McCarthy-ism at its worst.. . .
Because the leftist gay radicals are so blinded by their rage and hatred, they are now systematically destroying the lives of individual gay Americans themselves! How ironic. So it isn’t John Ashcroft and the FBI peeking in your bedroom, and going through your trash. Nope, it is Michael Rogers and his silent spies who may be stalking you everywhere you go — out to eat, at parties, outside your own home.
And now we have someone offering money to find out the private details of the life of a conservative reporter whose nude pictures have already appeared on various left-wing web-sites.
While those who advocate the publishing of such information may dress up their scandalmongering with fancy rhetoric and noble-sounding ideas, they are little more than the left-wing gay equivalent of a supermarket tabloid. They have anointed themselves as judges of conservative hypocrisy and are willing to expose the private lives of at least two gay conservatives to make their case.

The gay Internet equivalent of a supermarket tabloid
I had thought that my last piece on “Gannongate” was going to be the last thing I wrote on the topic. But, last night, just before bed, I was perusing Christian Grantham’s blog and chanced upon this post. John Aravosis has republished the post of a “a rich DC socialite” offering $20,000 for dirt on Jeff Gannon.
They
are looking for evidence (photos, phone pictures, locks of hair, DNA on a suit) that Jeff Gannon had any type of sexual, or romantic, relationship with any top-ranking Washington official(s) — or proof that he engaged in any illegal sexual activities or favors.
Not content merely to publish nude pictures of this man, these people want to snoop further into Gannon’s private life. They may be looking for “proof that he engaged in illegal sexual activities,” but they’re also seeking information about the most intimate of his relationships, those of a “romantic” nature.

Open Thread Thursday
Ladies and gentleman, I’m about to board a plane in Seattle to take a day-long flight over “fly over” country (see top banner of GP site!). So as I enjoy taking in the beauty of Red State America, I turn the site over to you. Just be nice to each other, please! *grin*
BREAKING NEWS: HRC to Crown New Monarch, Left-Wing Crazy Political Agenda to Continue
Christian Grantham has the exclusive — Joe Solomonese to lead HRC?
And why am I not surprised that HRC would pick a pro-choice abortion activist to lead their group into the Red State American Century?
Joe Solmonese is the CEO of Emily’s List, a national organization that supports pro-choice Democratic women candidates throughout the country.
After all, abortion promotion makes total sense as a gay rights agenda plank, right? *note sarcasm*
PatriotPartner once hung up on an HRC soliciation call when they lied and denied to him that they are a pro-abortion group. Heh, heh.
Hey, if Joe takes the job…. I’m thrilled. I’m confident having another out-of-touch Gay Streeter in charge of a gay-funded membership organization sitting in a multimillion dollar palace in the center of DC will give me TONS more material in the coming months. Wooo hoooo.
Important Red State Victory, Double-Talk From The Gay Left
An important vote of the people took place yesterday in Topeka, Kansas… America’s heartland. A referendum was on the ballot for Topeka residences which, if passed, would have repealed gay rights protections for a decade. (Hat tip: KenSain.com)
Topeka: Yes to Gay Rights, No to Phelps Clan – 365gay.com
It failed by a vote of 14,285 to 12,795. The measure was begun by notorious anti-gay preacher Fred “God Hates Fags” Phelps. In a double whammy to the Phelps family, Fred’s granddaughter performed miserably in her attempt to oust a lesbian Topeka councilwoman.
2005 Topeka Primary Election Results – Topeka Capital-Journal
And now the irony. Here’s a money quote from Matt Foreman of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
“Today, the people of Topeka not only rejected discrimination, they chose decency over immorality, truth over despicable lies, and they repudiated the hate-filled beliefs and practices of Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka,” said Matt Foreman, Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
Now wait just a minute! Isn’t this the same Matt Foreman who said this following the disastrous 11-state rout of gay marriage on Election Day, 2004?
“The results underscore why we have a Bill of Rights – because it is always wrong to put basic rights up to a popular vote. In fact, even today, 213 years after the Bill of Rights was ratified, it is doubtful Americans could win our freedoms of speech, press and religion at the ballot box,” said Matt Foreman, Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
Whoa, nellie. You can’t have it both ways. When the results go your way, then it is okay to put basic civil rights up for a vote? But when it goes against you, then the American people are stoopid, bigoted morons who can’t be trusted?
C’mon, Matt! Get some credibility back. Get out to Red State America more often and you will find you have every reason to trust the American people. But not when you and your group continually assault the President, our nation, and our judgment as Americans.
Boston Red Sox Target for Queer Eye Guys?
PatriotPartner and PatriotPal, being the hard-core Yanks fans that they are, will get a chuckle over this item I just saw on SportsIllustrated.com.
According to SI… “Scruffy Red Sox first baseman Kevin Millar is reportedly in talks to appear on Bravo’s Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. So far the Fab Five is resisting the effort by pointing out that they are merely men, not magicians, dammit.”
I’m sure there are a lot of Yankees fans delighting in the fact that Carson will be giving switch-hitting tips to the Red Sox.
How to beat Hillary in ‘08
Today, while driving through Hollywood, I saw my first “Hillary Clinton ’08” bumper sticker. When that car changed lanes, I smiled for the car in front of this one sported a “Viva, Bush!” bumper sticker. I gave a thumbs up to this Hispanic driver, delighted to know that despite our different backgrounds, we supported the president.
Last night, on Hannity & Colmes, former Clinton advisor Dick Morris said that Hillary has basically already sewn up the 2008 Democratic nomination and has a good chance to be elected president just under four years hence. A week ago, in his Best of the Web column, James Taranto made a similar comment:
the most likely next president of the United States is Hillary Clinton. We’re not saying the odds of a Clinton presidency are higher than 50%, just that they’re higher than for any other individual.
While I agree that the odds of Hillary becoming president are less than 50%, I still think (alas!) that she has a good shot of winning.
