Pope Benedict XVI & NGLTF — an appalling policy, an offensive release

September 23, 2005 by admin

If you want evidence of where the gay movement is failing gay people, you only need look at this press release from the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF). For once, I basically agree with the Task Force, but find their rhetoric way over the top and counterproductive. It offends those they should be trying to convince.
They fault Pope Benedict XVI for favoring an “‘Instruction’ that gay men should not be ordained as Roman Catholic priests.” That is, the church would “bar even celibate gay men from seminaries” Instead of calling the practice wrong, narrow-minded, unfair or discriminatory, all terms which I would use, NGTLF’s Executive Director Matt Foreman calls it “evil” and accuses the Church of “unbridled hatred” of gay people.
This over-the-top rhetoric obscures the merits of their case. I had to read the release twice before realizing that I basically agreed with the Task Force on this one. It does them no good to call the church evil — or to attack the Church as Foreman does. His screed will not succeed in convincing many people (who do not already have a negative opinion of the Catholic Church) of the extreme nature of this “instruction.”

The Gay Left’s New Low — Targeting American Civilians

September 13, 2005 by admin

Thanks to GP Reader Anthony for sending me this outrageous story.
Pair vows to out anti-gay wed signers: AG certifies ballot measure – Boston Herald

A pair of gay activists are raising the stakes in the fight over same-sex marriage, vowing to post on the Internet the name and address of anyone who signs a petition to ban gay marriage and civil unions in Massachusetts.
“I have the fight in me now, and if people I know, or that I support, or that I do business with are on that list, I might not support them or their philanthropies or their businesses,” said Tom Lang, who launched knowthyneighbor.org with his spouse, Alex Westerhoff.

These two guys are basically threatening retribution or violence by posting names and addresses of those who oppose them politically.
Can you imagine how the Human Rights Campaign would howl if the names and addresses of openly (or not open) gay and lesbians were posted on a website? “A hate crime!”, they would scream!
Well, how is this less of a hate crime? Or at the very least, political intimidation at its absolute worst? Is this what the political dialogue in America has sunk to?

Would This Make Me “Child One” ?

July 28, 2005 by admin

You know, I’d like to know if the Gay Left sits around and proactively brainstorming ways to make themselves look ridiculous, intolerant, anti-American and childish?
Chad, guest blogging over at Alarming News, has the skinny on this absurd turn of events from our gay “leaders” who are losing votes on gay rights all across America. (Who’s Your Parent A!!)
Massachusetts (of course) Debates Birth Certificates for Babies of Same-Sex Couples – FOX News

“…gay rights advocates want the words “Mother” and “Father” removed from birth certificates, and put in their place the terms “Parent A” and “Parent B.”
[Governor] Romney has instructed hospitals to cross out the words “Mother” or “Father” and write in the phrase “Second Parent.”
“I’m opposed to taking the Massachusetts birth certificate and removing the term ‘Mother’ and ‘Father’ and substituting ‘Parent A’ and ‘Parent B,'” Romney said. “Look, each child has a mother and a father. They should have the right to have that mother and father known to them and that’s something I’d like to preserve on a birth certificate.”

As Chad says: Honestly, being gay, I really have a hard time siding with people who are on the fight for “gay rights”. Nevermind the fact that they totally miss that whole pesky majority rules thing and take all their gripes to the judiciary to decide, but they come up with the most retarded answers to their problems.
So let’s check our scorecard…. the head of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is a self-avowed socialist, the head of the Human Rights Campaign is former fundraiser for the pro-abortion movement, the head of Log Cabin Republicans spent $1M in advertising against the Republican President in a close election year, and now the Massachusetts GayLefties want to turn my Mom into “Parent A”???
Someone *please* enlighten me as to when the Gay Borg Queens are going to wake up and realize they are further marginalizing themselves with these ridiculous challenges to society. If this is their post-2004 election strategy to reach out to “Red Staters”… maybe it is some kind of reverse psychology offensive?
PS – Chad can normally be found at Cake or Death?
PPS – There is a gay Republican in Brooklyn….. who is a Philadelphia Eagles fan?? I hope he has a bodyguard. *grin*

Hatemail Alert!

July 12, 2005 by admin

I spit out my coffee this morning after reading this piece of email. Then, I quickly ran upstairs to pack my bags for the inevitable (and much predicted) trip to Montana to the “gay concentration camps.”

Boy oh boy. I just came from the Jews for the holocaust website, but this one takes the cake
.

If you are going to be a critic… at least come up with something ORIGINAL! Ignorant re-spouting of hateful talking points is just boring…. especially from the “tolerant” gay leftist community. Creativity, people! Please!

Heteronormative at Harvard

March 11, 2005 by admin

Today, I am inaugurating a new topic, “Gay P.C. Silliness.” Under this topic, we will blog on actions or statements where gay writers, activists or leaders make absurd comments in their pursuit of “gay rights” or in their consideration of the position of gays in contemporary society. Please feel free to e-mail us linking us to some of the silly comments you find. Perhaps, we will find some suitable way to honor the person who comes ups with the silliest case of gay political correctness.
The inaugural post on this topic is about a word heretofore unknown to me–heteronormative–which one web-site defines as “Those punitive rules (social, familial, and legal) that force us to conform to hegemonic, heterosexual standards for identity. The term is a short version of “normative heterosexuality.” So, amused was I by the story I relate below that I googled heterormative and came up with more than 35,000 hits.
Last week, I read on OpinionJournal’s Best of the Web about a group of gay students at Harvard upset that actress Jada Pinkett Smith made heteronormative comments, narrowly defining “the roles of men and women in relationships.” Apparently, “some of Pinkett Smith’s remarks concerning appropriate gender roles were specific to heterosexual relationships.” Oh no! A straight woman talking about heterosexual relationships!
